Hello All and Welcome back to the Holly Green Guru Blog!
I hope you've been living green and taking time to wind down after the holidays. Hopefully you were able to find some great money saving tips for shopping and you are ready to get it at again, because let's be honest, even when the economy is down, you still need to turn it up! So, get ready for a season of VALUE! Yes, that word is in fashion this Spring and I've got lots of fun tips and ways to help you get what you want without breaking the bank (or your mirror).
You should have all received your money saving coupons by now from your local Inland Western Managed Property; so we'll explore some ways to put those to use. You'll notice I added a style guide this season with a few pieces everyone should have and at a great price. You'll also be able to enter to win another $1,000 shopping spree by sharing your ideas and pleding to Save Green this season.
Take some time to explore the website and feel free to offer any comments or suggestions of things you like or even things you don't like. If you have questions on how to live green as well, please ask away. Our goal is still to preserve and conserve, so with that in mind, I'll leave you with 5 fun ways to start the season gree:
1. Start with the flick of a switch: If every household replaced a burned out bulb with an energy efficient one, we'd save enough energy to light 2.5 million homes for an entire year (this according to earthday.net). I know the tune of changing out lightbulbs is starting to sound like a broken record, but trust me; its easy, cheap and it makes a huge difference!
2. Give it a Tug...unplug! When you aren't using appliances and electronics you should have them unplugged! If it isn't being used, don't waste the energy. Although your appliances and electronics are turned off they are still using power also known as "phantom electricity" - scary name, even scarier result!
3. Idle free-free is the way to be: A running car doesn't even creat as much emissions as an idling one. Whether you're stopped for coffee, picking or dropping someone off, turn off the car. It will save you money and even the embarrassment of looking 'wasteful'; knowa days you don't want the average side-street spectator assuming you aren't up to speed on going green.
4. Nifty Fifty...FIVE! National Geographic recently published a study that showed drivers who slow down to 55mph from 65mph can increase your fueld efficiency by 15%.
